Be Ready for Emergencies
Caring for Others
Caring for others in an emergency is a skill every citizen needs. As a First Responder you may be challenged with a Life-Threatening situation. Do you have the skills?
In diving, first-aid is more complex as we deal with pressure-related problems that aren't covered in a standard first-aid course. So the Sport Diving Community Worldwide has developed it's own research and established courses that fill the need. Coincidentally, anyone dealing with an Emergency in the Aquatic Environment can benefit from this training. So whether it's Diving, Lifeguarding, or swimming, we have a course for you
Listed below are regular First-Aid, Survival First-Aid and DAN Aquatic First-Aid Courses!

Emergency First Response Care for Children Course
The Emergency First Response Care for Children course is an innovative CPR, AED and First Aid training course that teaches
participants how to provide emergency care for injured or ill children (ages one to eight) and infants less than one year old.
Participants learn about the types of medical emergencies that children face, and how they differ from adult conditions.
The curriculum also includes the importance of attending to basic emergency situations with children, the emotional aspects
of caring for children, secondary care for children, and preventing common injuries and illnesses in children.
Emergency First Response Care for Children course trains the lay rescuer to follow the same priorities of care used by medical
professionals. The student masters the priorities and the procedures of patient care for infants and children in a non-stressful
learning environment, which reduces the performance anxieties that interfere with learning and enhances confidence when
rendering aid in a real medical emergency.
The course includes both primary care (CPR) and secondary care (first aid) skills. The primary care portion of the course prepares
the rescuer to render aid to an infant or child with a life-threatening emergency such as choking or cardiac arrest. Secondary care
focuses on developing secondary patient care skills and building the rescuer's confidence to render first aid to an infant or child
in need when emergency medical services are either delayed or unavailable. The Care for Children course content is based on
guidelines from the Pediatric Working Group of ILCOR.

How to Administer First-Aid to Adults, Children and Infants
The remote nature of dive accidents, whether a few hours from
shore or days from civilization, frequently requires more
advanced levels of care than are offered by traditional or
entry-level CPR programs. Basic Life Support for Dive
Professionals (BLSPRO) is a health-care-provider-level basic
life support program.
This course is ideal for dive
professionals and divers interested in understanding
professional-level resuscitation techniques. It is designed to
be applicable to the diving market — including scenes and
scenarios from dive situations — as well as the
nondiving/health-care market.
BLSPRO also addresses basic
life support skills for adults, children and infants.
This course is a skills-dependent program not a time-dependent one. The instructor shows short video segments,
demonstrates the skills in real time, does a second skill demonstration, breaking down key steps as appropriate,
and then conducts student practice.
The program covers the following broad skill areas:
- initial assessment
- airway management
- breathing and ventilation
- circulation
- AED use
- control of bleeding
- shock management
- ongoing assessment
The following skills learned in this program set it apart from lay-provider-level CPR courses:
- two-person CPR
- ventilation using a bag valve mask
- finger sweep
- suctioning
- cricoid pressure
- caring for an unconscious choking person
Requirements:
- 8 Hour Course with Home Study
- DAN BLSPRO Workbook required
- $100 Instruction Fee- includes C-Card
Advanced Level Training including Advanced O2 & Hazardous Marine Life Remedies
It is a rare event when a dive emergency is a single event. More often than not, separate small problems
compound to create a larger problem. Divers and dive professionals interested in understanding first aid
care for dive emergencies can now take the Diving Emergency Management Provider course from a DAN Instructor.
This single program integrates the knowledge and skills from several DAN Training Programs into a single eight-hour day.
The knowledge and skills from the DAN Advanced Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries module are optional in this program.
After reviewing the skills and knowledge development portions of this program, the students then participate in an integrated
scenario where they get the opportunity to bring together all of the skills they learned in each of the segments into a single scenario.
