Master Scuba Diver  Enriched Air Nitrox Diver

This certification denotes that you've reached the highest recreational diver level in the PADI System of diver education. PADI Master Scuba Diver indicates you have a significant amount of training and experience in a variety of dive environments.padi specialty courses

Course Completion Requirements

  • PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)

  • PADI Rescue Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)

  • 50 logged dives

  • Five PADI Specialty course certifications

  • Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for Junior Master Scuba Diver)

Where can I go from here?

The PADI Master Scuba Diver certification is the highest recreational level in the PADI system of diver education. But, you don't have to stop there! You can continue on to become a PADI Professional. As a Master Scuba Diver you'll be well qualified to begin your training as a PADI Divemaster.

What is the Training Fee? $ 0. You only pay for PADI for registration!

 

By diving with enriched air rather than standard air you can extendenriched air diver your no-decompression limits. This means more time underwater. For example, if you dive to15 metres/50 feet on air, your no decompression limit is 80 minutes. But, diving on EANx36 gets you 220 minutes of no decompression time - an increase of 140 minutes.

You can apply this Specialty course towards your Master Scuba Diver certification.

The PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty certification emphasizes the theoretical and operational considerations involved with enriched air diving.


Course Prerequisites

  • A current PADI Open Water Student (or qualifying certification from another organization)

  • Minimum age: 15 years

  • PADI Enriched Air Crew-Pak, which also includes an Enriched Air 32 percent Table, Enriched Air 36 percent Table and Equivalent Air Depth/Oxygen Exposure Table.

How long will it take?

  • 1 Classroom session (~3-1/2 hours) of in-class training. Padi no longer requires Enriched Air Dives.

What is the Training Fee? $85. Includes C-Card.

 Dry Suit Diver  Dive Computer Course
If you want to see the spectacular and prolific aquatic life often found in colder water climates you'll need to stay warm and that means a dry suit. But, you want to be trained in proper techniques and this is where PADI Dry Suit Diver Specialty course comes in. You'll also need this certification to rent a drysuit!

Course Prerequisites
  • PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 12 years old
  • Dry Suit Manual

What will I do?

During your PADI Dry Suit Diver Specialty course, you'll not only cover the background knowledge related to dry suit diving, you'll get into confined water to put that theory into practice. Then, once you've mastered confined water, it's time for two open water dives and applying that knowledge, including dive planning, organization, techniques, problems and buoyancy control.

Many divers have yet to convert from the tables to dive computers! Others have yet to understand just what the computer is actually indicating & how it differs from the tables! You'll learn why and how the dive computer has changed the way we think about "No Decompression calculation forever!

What will I do?

This course is designed to instruct users on how to utilize the important information held in the computer, how to access the different modes and what the display really means. You'll walk away with a wealth of information that will make your computer dives safer, with a greater appreciation for what it can do for you! You'll also discuss the dive theory & model that was used to calculate your diving.

Search & Recovery Diver  Night Diver
search & recoveryHave you ever dropped something in the water? Are you looking for lost treasure? The PADI Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course will teach you effective ways to find objects underwater and bring them to the surface.

Course Prerequisites
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization) OR
  • PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver AND PADI Underwater Navigation certifications (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 12 years old
  • Search and Recovery manual

What will I do?

You'll learn search and recovery dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also cover limited visibility, search patterns and safe object recovery using lift devices.

How long will it take?

  • search & recovery1 Class Session
  • 4 Open Water Training dives over two days

Your Adventures In Diving Search and Recovery Adventure Dive may count toward this Specialty certification at instructor discretion. This specialty can also be used as one of five Specialty certifications required for your Master Scuba Diver certification.

When you go night diving you'll see a whole new world. Even your local dive site takes on a new personality at night, as many underwater creatures and plant life (different from those you see during the day) are active at night.

Course Prerequisites

  • PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 12 years old
  • Night Diver Manual

What will I do?

You'll learn night dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also learn how to control your buoyancy, navigate and communicate at night. Since many of the plants and animals you'll see are different, you'll also get an introduction to nocturnal aquatic life.

How long will it take?

  • 3 Night Dives over 2 sessions night diver

Your Adventures In Diving Night Adventure Dive may count towards the Night Diver Specialty course at instructor discretion. In addition, the Night Diver Specialty course counts as one of five Specialty courses required for your Master Scuba Diver certification.

 Altitude Diver Underwater Naturalist
altitude diverAny time you're diving from 300 to 3000 metres/1000 to 10,000 feet above sea level, you're altitude diving. If you want to explore the hidden world of a mountain lake, the PADI Altitude Diver Specialty course is for you.

  • Minimum age: 12 years old

What will I do?

The Altitude Diver Specialty course familiarizes you with the rules and procedures necessary to use the Recreational Dive Planner at altitude. This includes:

  • Altitude dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards
  • Special Recreational Dive Planner procedures for diving at altitude
  • Safety stops and emergency decompression procedures
  • Special equipment necessary for altitude diving

How long will it take?

  • 1 Class session
  • 2 dives over one day

At your instructor's discretion, you can count your Adventures In Diving Altitude Adventure Dive towards the Altitude Diver Specialty course, which also counts as one of the five specialty certifications for the PADI Master Scuba Diver certification.

If you're interested in aquatic life then the PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty course is for you. This course is an introduction to the underwater aquatic environment and will help develop safe and responsible aquatic life interaction techniques.

Course Prerequisites

  • PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 10 years old

What will I do?

During your PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty course, you'll learn underwater naturalist dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also get an overview of the major aquatic life groupings, interactions and factual information that dispels negative myths. You'll put this information into practice during your two open water dives.

How long will it take?

  • 1 Classroom session
  • 2 open water dives - 1 day

Peak Performance Buoyancy

Underwater Navigator

peak performance buoyancyIf you want to fine-tune your buoyancy and soar over reefs, extend bottom time by reducing air consumption and prolong the life of your dive equipment, the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course is for you.

Course Prerequisites

  • PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)

  • Minimum age: 10 years old

  • Peak Performance Buoyancy video (recommended)

What will I do?

During your Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course, you'll use PADI's Basic Weighting Guidelines to determine the correct amount of weight. Then you'll practice the fundamentals of peak performance buoyancy during two open water dives, including the buoyancy check, fine-tuning buoyancy underwater, weight positioning for trim, streamlining and visualization.

When you're underwater, knowing where you are and where you're going comes in handy, especially if you're looking for that beautiful reef that you've heard all about. The PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty course will help you become a pro at finding your way underwater.

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certified (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 10 years old
  • Nav-Finder, manual

What will I do?

During your PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty course, you'll learn underwater navigation dive procedures, techniques, planning, organization and potential problems. You'll also be introduced to natural navigation, underwater patterns, distance estimation and further your compass navigation skills. You'll put these into practice during your three open water dives.

Underwater Photographer Boat Diver

  • Personal Camera System. May be provided

What will I do?

You'll learn the basics of underwater photography such as composition, film or digital types and camera handling, with special emphasis on practical techniques. You'll learn underwater photography dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also learn how to care for and maintain your camera equipment.

How long will it take?

  • 2 Class/ Pool sessions + 2 open water dives

What will I do?

As part of your PADI Boat Diver Specialty course, you'll learn about:

  • Boat diving planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards

  • Proper boat diving etiquette, including equipment storage and conduct

  • Common boat terminology

  • Specific and local boat diving laws and ordinances

  • Overview of emergency and safety equipment needed on- private dive boats

How long will it take?

  • 2 ocean dive sessions

What is the Training Fee? $65 + related boat charter fee ~$80. Fee may be less if combined with Advanced Course. Includes C-Card.

The Boat Adventure Dive from the Adventures In Diving program may credit toward this Specialty course at the instructor's discretion. This Specialty course can also be one of the five Specialty certifications necessary for your PADI Master Scuba Diver certification.

Cavern Diver Deep Diver
cavern diverIf you dive within the light zone of a cave, the area near the cave entrance where natural light is always visibly, you're cavern diving. If you want to explore secrets hidden in caverns around the world you'll need your PADI Cavern Diver certification.

Course Prerequisites
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification
  • Minimum age: 18 years old

What will I do?

During your first open water dive you'll practice line handling, reel use and emergency procedures without entering a cavern. But, for your next three dives, you're headed into the cavern, staying within the light zone and 40 metres/130 feet total distance of the surface.

You'll also cover the following:

  • Planning, organization, techniques, problems and hazards of cavern diving.
  • Special equipment use, such as lights, guidelines, reels and redundant breathing systems.
  • Proper body position, buoyancy control, air management and emergency procedures.
  • Cavern diving hazards such as silting, line problems, disorientation and emergencies.

  • Recommended Course Hours: 24
  • Minimum Open Water Training: four dives over two days

Underwater Hunter

Sea Signs Course

Most of us enjoy seafood delicacies, but have always had to purchase it at the market or our favorite restaurant. Now that your a diver, you can enjoy hunting and collecting your own dinner, with many a story to go with the meal!

Course Prerequisites

  • PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)

  • Minimum age: 15 years old

  • Pole Spear or Speargun, game collecting bag/ stringer. Abalone iron, float, bag and gage if applicable to the trip (North Coast only)

What will I do?

  • Learn about different types of game available in California

  • Understand fish and game laws

  • Learn techniques used to catch em and bag em.

  • Be introduced to the wide variety of hunting and collecting equipment and how to maintain them.

How long will it take?

You attend a 1 night of education and 1 day (2 dives) of diving either in Monterey, North Coast, or Channel Islands, depending on the course date you choose.
